A standards-based reporting system informs families on the student’s progress toward the end-of-year goal and gives a clear picture of where the student is in relation to the grade level expectation and standards. With a standards-based report card, teachers, parents, and students have a clear understanding of what skills and concepts are known by the student and help focus and align instruction. The report card is a “snapshot” of the student’s progress toward meeting a standard independently. A performance indicator level of “3” by the end of the school year is the expected goal for students, meaning they have met each grade level standard.
